The Project

Our interactive narrative will take the form of an animatic following two characters and their two close friends. These characters will not only encounter social interaction but all four effects explored in this project. As this project will be interactive users will get the chance to rectify some decisions by choosing the best resolution fitted to one of our two main characters. Users will get the chance to rectify decisions in all scenes displayed. While interacting with this narrative students will learn and become more aware of the distraction and problems caused by overusing their mobile phone.

The Idea

Mobile Phone Usage in College Students

Along with books and other college supplies, students still make their daily trips to college for learning, experience and preparation for jobs in some of the biggest industries in the world. The majority of students go to college without forgetting their trusty smartphone. Mobile phones connect students to one another, keeps them updated with educational resources and the ability to distract them. Mobile phones can be a helpful academic tool or a hurtful academic distraction. By spending so much time glued to the screen of our device we ask ourselves. What effect is this having on us?

Aims, Objectives & Desired outcomes

The aim of this project is to raise awareness among students about the effects of mobile phone usage and the impact it has on daily routine


This project will be carried out by using an interactive narrative to engage with the chosen demographic. The objective for the users is to interact with the content provided which will help create a sense of awareness and provide additional information at the end of the project 


The desired outcome of the project is to allow users to interact and engage with our awareness campaign while obtaining a substantial amount of information leading to hopefully a healthier relationship with their mobile device.

Jamie Murphy

Project Manager


Jamie’s responsibilities consisted of planning, organising, scheduling meetings and compiling documentation. He is committed to solving problems and keeping projects he’s involved in on track. He also took on the role of website designer, project logo and created graphics for the project.

Shane Clarke

Shane is filling the role of project editor. Shane has a great commitment to editing and has enquired some great editing skills over the course of three years studying film. He’s committed to producing a high standard interactive narrative while implementing some new and different editing techniques.

Ciarán Connolly

Ciarán is filling the role of Assistant Editor and Audio. Over the course of three years, Ciarán has completed multiple audio projects and his skills and abilities are great for this interactive narrative. Ciarán’s responsibilities will consist of researching audio, sound effects, tones, melodies and instrumental music all to be used for the final product. He will work very closely with Shane to make sure the edit is to a high standard.
